Dog Park Etiquette

At our VDS Dog Park, pet owners have the benefit of socializing their pets while meeting up with other dog owners for daily conversations and play. We enjoy this benefit as well as the opportunity to meet old and new friends and to have our fur babies interact with other dogs. But as with other areas within VDS, the Dog Park can not work for everyone without the establishment of rules and guidelines to help in ensuring the safety of pets and their owners.

The Valencia del Sol Dog Park Rules are listed right outside the Dog Park, between both the small park (dogs 25 pounds and under) and the big dog park (dogs 25 pounds and over).

  • The Dog Park Rules seem to be logical. Many of the items listed are pursuant to Hillsborough County Animal Services and the VDS Home Owner's Association. If you would like to have additional information, please visit FSS 767

  • All dogs using the Dog Park should have their rabies vaccination as well as their annual Bordetella vaccinations. Dog owners should have a conversation with their vets about other vaccinations to ensure the safety of your and others pets.

  • The VDS Dog Park is for the use of all residents that have dogs from dawn to dusk. There is no sign-up sheet to ensure one owner's exclusive use over another. If your dog shows aggression to other dogs, your dog is prohibited from use of the dog park according to the VDS Rules as well as FSS 767, listed above.

  • When entering the Dog Park, ensure your dog is under your control. The idea is to introduce the dog entering the park to the dogs that are already in the park. Residents should also make sure that the dogs already within the park are away from the gate entrance. This will allow the entering dog to not be overwhelmed and threatened.

  • It is YOUR responsibility to pick up your dog's poop. Bags are provided for that purpose. There is nothing worse than playing with your dog and stepping into a pile of poop from another dog.

  • If a resident shows aggression or harassment to any of the dogs or owners, please try not to escalate the situation. Report, in as much detail as possible, to the Property Manager and the HOA president.

  • Lastly, this is a wonderful resource to have for our pets, let's not jeopardize losing it by misinterpreting another resident's actions. Be kind and follow the rules.
